FC Mobile Gangway - Sunday, March 10, 2013

As a generation of new mega-liners joins the world's cruise fleet and the number of passengers on board continuously increases, effective asset management has never been more important. FC Mobile Mustering - Thursday, January 12, 2012

Added functionality in SPMS radically cuts emergency passenger-handling times, with the introduction of electronic hand-held devices. The new system enables cruise operators to manage the emergency mustering process by tracking each individual passenger and crew member, whilst simultaneously keeping officers on the bridge fully informed of progress.

FMS Business Intelligence (BI) Module

Fidelio Cruise’s FMS Business Intelligence (BI) Module has been designed and built to enhance the functionality of the company’s already well-established and powerful Fleet Management System (FMS).

As an installation in a cruise line’s headquarters and across a fleet of ships, the module logs all transactions and makes data instantly available to shore-based managers. This allows them to analyse and compare operational and financial performance against a range of parameters.

The FC Fleet Management System (FMS) BI Module aggregates all this data to facilitate online analytical processing. The tool is highly flexible and can be easily customized so that cruise lines can benefit from functionality tailored to their requirements. This is regardless of the number of vessels within a fleet, for example, itineraries or other aspects of their operation. The data is consolidated and analysed in shoreside headquarters or in IT centers in real-time, regardless of the amount of information provided.

Typically, data includes but is not limited to passenger and crew information, financial transactions, reservation details, purchases on board, various bookings including spa appointments, shore excursions, theatre bookings and restaurant reservations.

The system supports Microsoft Excel, PowerPivot for Excel and PowerPivot for SharePoint, making it easier for users to export and analyse the information with tools with which they are already familiar.

Integration with ResOnline gives an analytical snapshot of current or future operations. For example, an analysis of future reservations for one cruise line could give a snapshot of an upcoming Christmas season cruise, for example, where most reservations are for couples in the age group 45-55. Analysis could reveal that typically they have taken three previous cruises in the last five years, that they prefer to drink red wine and also prefer to dine in á la carte restaurants.

All these details can have a dramatic impact when scheduling future itineraries and planning on-board activities well in advance. Information can also be forwarded to external systems, if required, as well as made available in reports or sent to various devices, depending on a customer’s requirements.

The BI module can also access cubes (portions of data) created by the customer that reside in a data warehouse. Perhaps loyalty data needs to be analysed, for example. Instead of having to open another third-party Business Intelligence application to analyse the loyalty data, the data in the ‘external’ cube can be accessed through the FC FMS BI module. This allows a cruise line to use the company’s powerful and flexible front end and make use of security features and user rights, as well as the FC FMS BI report engine.
