Norwegian Gem joins the NCL fleet with state-of-the-art Fidelio Cruise software on board
Featuring all the key elements of NCL’s dynamic Freestyle Cruising brand, the 2,394-passenger Norwegian Gem has Fidelio Cruise’s Ship’s Property Management System (SPMS) at the centre of her IT network. From the embarkation stage where each passenger’s information is automatically captured through the FC Check-In Module by a simple scan and stored in a central database, to applications such as FC Shore Excursion, Fidelio Cruise software covers all the on board requirements.
The FC Gangway Security software comprises the latest in cruise ship access management technology providing a range of features which make the cruise ship embarkation / disembarkation process quicker, simpler, more easily managed and less intrusive for passengers.
To ensure the best maintenance of the newest NCL “girl”, Fidelio Cruise has installed the FC Hotel Maintenance Module which logs all maintenance requests from guests and crew and automatically routes them to the relevant department for attention. Almost 3 500 guests and crew accounts are handled on a daily basis with a complete control of all transactions. Effective Passenger and Crew. Invoicing with functionality including group invoicing and the automatic handling of discounts and gratuities is possible with Fidelio Cruise’s Ship Property Management System.
Micros point-of-sale software systems are fully integrated allowing a “cash-free” environment for passengers on board.
A new feature of the Micros point-of-sale installations is that for the first time, food orders taken in the NCL ships’ restaurants are controlled through the Micros system. The guest seat number and order are printed on the Micros receipts allowing waiters full control of their operation. They can provide each guest with exactly what has been ordered, including any special requests. Receipts are printed in the ship’s galley in a wireless environment as the printers are equipped with W-LAN access points. This enables improved stock control and service efficiency.
NCL Gem is also equipped with the Fidelio Cruise Universal Interface which enables integration with other systems on board including the Duty Free Shop, Bingo and Interactive TV. The Allin Interactive TV system allows guests not only to purchase movies but also to benefit from many other services, all from the comfort of their own suites. They can view their on board account statement for example and they can reserve spaces on the shore excursions of their choice. All ITV transactions are transmitted and recorded in real time, so that staff on board have complete access to the data and hold a permanent record.
More then 1200 guest cabins benefit from this latest shipboard software to ensure an unforgettable cruise experience.
The data from the vessel is also available through Fidelio Cruise’s Fleet Management System (FMS) to shore-based managers who are kept fully informed about shipboard performance as regularly as they wish. The FMS software incorporates a range of features allowing reports to be drawn up and comparisons made between different ships in a fleet, and different cruise itineraries.
The 15-deck Norwegian Gem, which is manned by a crew complement of 1100, has a wide range of innovative features and amenities. Apart from the ten restaurants, there are 12 bars and lounges, two swimming pools, a casino, a health and fitness spa, a gym and a bowling alley.
